· As a result of the aggressions of the citizens to the members of the Farc party, the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Rivera, invited all the political forces to reject any type of violence against a candidate.
Minister Rivera reiterated that the national government works to provide guarantees to all political parties and rejected acts of aggression that prevent the Farc from proselytizing. “The government offers guarantees to all candidates, regardless of their political spectrum”he said.
“We invite all campaigns to condemn all acts of aggression”, said Interior Minister, who insisted that citizens should allow the normal development of them. “Assaults are not compatible with democracy”, he added and explaining that “the authorities must provide guarantees and protection to all political forces”.
The head of the political portfolio warned that the Government will continue working for a calm and peaceful campaign and pointed out that citizens have every right to discern with candidates because that is what democracy is for. The Minister reiterated that “campaigns are for everyone to express their ideas” and concluded that “democracy is for citizens to vote freely”.
