  • The miniter of the Interior, Guillermo Rivera, held a meeting with magistrates of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, JEP, to begin work, jointly, on the initiative that will allow its full operation.

The objective of this law Project, which will be filed with a message of urgency, is, according to the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Rivera, to have legal tools for its operation.

“We hope to file it in March and before June it will be approved. The initiative is an essential tool in which we will work together Government and magistrates” explained the minister.

The minister Rivera warned that “the constitutional norm and the statutory law define the maximum times in which the JEP can exist. This project will solve the minutiae of the procedures”.

He clarified that "it cannot work with the Code of Criminal Procedure because it is a special jurisdiction. The purpose is to compensate victims' rights and this code is not applicable”.

This law project, which will be a priority for the Government in the next legislative period, will define the details of the judicial protocol for the functioning of the JEP.
