- "If we do not want another wave of violence in the country, we must strengthen the community network": Héctor Olimpo Espinosa
One of the 10 pilots of Listening Centers that the Vice Minister of the Interior Héctor Olimpo Espinosa has been promoting throughout the national territory was activated today in San Basilio de Palenque, municipality of Mahates in Bolívar.
“The 'Security Network' strategy that we are promoting focuses on listening and dialogue, as a space to develop our vocations. The absence of this generates vulnerabilities for young people to fall into problems of intolerance, consumption and insecurity, "said Vice Minister Espinosa.
The project promoted today in this region south of Bolívar is in the diagnostic phase and seeks to find the fundamental aspects to attack the control of the consumption of psychoactive substances and thus face the problems that may arise in security.
“If we do not want another wave of violence in the country, we must strengthen the community network, the bonds of trust and social unity through listening. I hope this project is a blessing that sows hope in the youth of San Basilio de Palenque” said Espinosa
The director of Afro-Colombian, raizales and palenqueras’ Communities Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, assured in his speech during the event that, "we must begin to understand ourselves, to respect our individual cultures. There is no better solution than listening to the other, the dialogue, and you in Palenque teach us that. To look at ourselves from within is to review ourselves. We must begin to understand ourselves, to respect our individual cultures. There is no better solution than listening to the other, the dialogue, and you in Palenque teach us that.
The event was also attended by Joel Cimarra Cassiani, legal representative of the Community Council, who supported the initiative by ensuring that, "we were the first free point in the country, we gave the sporting glory with Antonio Cervantes 'Kid Pambelé', the first world champion had Colombia. We lack opportunities, scenarios, actions that allow us to make dreams come true. Children centralized in sports do not think about affecting the community. A Listening Center makes us visible to the world”.
For his part Segundo Cáceres Reyes, inspector and corregidor of San Basilio de Palenque invited the community of San Basilio de Palenque "We are a family with difficulties and differences. Our problem is the use, trafficking and consumption of drugs, which is what originates all our ills, let's begin to diminish that, if we denounce, we could lower those figures”.
