Positive balance in the atypical elections held in two municipalities of the country.
At the close of the atypical elections to elect mayors of the municipalities of Repelón, Atlántico and Valle de San Juan, Tolima, the Minister of the Interior, Alicia Arango, highlighted the normal development of the day and compliance with the biosecurity protocols by of the citizen.
“In the precount, there were 13,385 voters in Repelón (65. 50% of the electoral roll) and 3,329 (67% of the electoral roll) in Valle de San Juan. We made a great effort to ensure that the second atypical elections, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, were carried out with all the biosecurity protocols indicated by the Ministry of Health. The prevention measures were respected in the two municipalities with social distancing, taking the temperature at polling stations and requiring a mask to enter the premises ”, stated Arango Olmos.
The head of the political portfolio stressed that, "during the elections, citizens had at their disposal the Immediate Reception Unit for Electoral Transparency, URIEL, a platform designed by the Ministry of the Interior, to receive complaints and reports of possible electoral crimes. However, during the election day no complaints were received from the public. "
