The electoral observation mission of the Organization of American States-OAS-and the director for Democracy, Citizen Participation and Communal Action of the Ministry of the Interior, José David Riveros Namen, held a meeting to strengthen the electoral guarantees of the presidential elections from Sunday, May 27.
"Having the OAS is a guarantee for all campaigns that the national government is developing all possible actions so that the elections are completely transparent”, said Riveros Namen.
The OAS will accompany the presidential elections throughout the country with 65 observers in 25 departments, 18 regional coordinators and 4 specialists. For its part, the Ministry of the Interior appointed 32 electoral links to support the election day.
"The articulated work between the Ministry and the observers will be essential for the electoral process," said director Riveros, who highlighted the work carried out by the Immediate Reaction Unit for Electoral Transparency (URIEL), which has received 142 complaints or denunciations for alleged irregularities in the presidential election.
