“The dispute over territorial control for the illegal exploitation of illegal crops and minerals puts the social, communal leaders and defenders of human rights in permanent risk. Within the early alerts of the Ombudsman, the main cause of alert for the risk of threats and homicides derives from the actions of the illegals, that is why the fundamental principle of the axis of President Duque's government is legality”, said Interior Minister Nancy Patricia Gutierrez, in delivering 40 vehicles to the Police for the department of Antioquia. Currently, “there are 182 people threatened in this department, 25 of them with individual protection. Additionally, the National Protection Unit, UNP works with the Ministry of Government in collective protection schemes”, she added. The vehicles delivered had an investment of $ 4,353 million, which were requested within the Timely Action Plan, PAO, since in the visits to territory “the communities told us the first thing we want is security and for this we require the strengthening of the Police”, she said. Of the 40 vehicles, 32 are uniformed and equipped pickup trucks, 3 non-uniformed pickup trucks and 5 surveillance panel patrols.
