The Black, Afro-Colombian, Raizales and Palenqueras communities Affairs (DACN) Directorate, inter alia, is responsible for "advising the formulation and supporting the monitoring to public policies aimed at the acknowledgment, protection and development of the ethnic and cultural diversity for African Colombian, San Andrés and Palenquera communities".
What We Do
The DACN, together with the national and territorial entities, strengthens the Community Councils in their governance and rights, it renders technical support so that the communities may access several funding sources for projects which may generate income, supports affirmative actions in areas such as education, health and culture, and promotes attention to the displaced population by characterizing African Colombian group territories, and the formulation and tracking of Specific Protection Plans and Plans for Attention to the High-Risk African Colombian Population.
Finally, it supports and acts as a warrantor of participation spaces of the African-Colombian communities in matters pertaining to legislation and prior consultation, resources with differential focus within the General Royalties System, and regarding the sectorial commitments of the State included the National Development Plan. DACN promotes policies against discrimination and racism, in the pursuit of a more equitable and inclusive society.
